Silent Auction Now Closed

Thank you to all those who participated in the Silent Auction for our SEAT Project stools.
The bidding has now closed.

SEAT Project Silent Auction

During the last two terms, the Year 5 students have been participating in the SEAT Project. The aim of this project has been to promote compassion in the students for those less fortunate. At the beginning of the process they assembled a stool and researched Vietnam, the country in which the stool was made. We spent time thinking about our strengths and how we, and others, have made a difference in the world.

As part of the project students also researched charities they might help. We looked at many charities and the amazing work that they do. We were all struck though by the statistic from the Indigenous Literacy Foundation that stated “only 34% of Indigenous Year 5 students in very remote areas are at or above national minimum reading standards, compared to 95% for non-Indigenous students in major cities.” As a result we chose to support the work of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) (https://www.indigenousliteracyfoundation.org.au).

Each group of students has now decorated the stool that they made at the beginning of the processes. We are now hoping that through you we will be able to sell these so that we can make a donation to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

We will close the silent auction Wednesday 5 December at 3pm. If you have the winning bid you will then be notified and your donation can be sent to the office by Friday 7 December.

Year 6 Car Wash Success!

An enormous thank you for the incredible hard work washing cars by everyone involved in last Saturday's Year 6 Car Wash at Flower Power Warriewood.  The generosity of time, effort and energy was unbelievable.  Not only that, but many students and their parents contributed delicious baked creations for our cake stall, which was a great success!

The total made on the day was $1,770.  A special mention must be made of the efforts of Cameron Johnston, Nick Kelly, Hugh Coates, Simeon Haddad - these Dad’s went solidly from 10am-2pm! They were the engine of the car wash. 

Year 6 are fundraising to provide a gift to the school, and also very importantly to contribute to the work of the incredibly important charity Bear Cottage.

Thank you to all students and families who contributed to the day.  Your efforts are truly appreciated.
