Wall of Appreciation

We have started a wall of appreciation this week in Year 5. Students are 'watching' their class mates for instances of amazing learning and examples of using our Learning@STLUKE'S dispositions. They are then anonymously recording these to display on our wall.

Stage Debating

This afternoon Year 5 and 6 held the second round of our debating tournament. Mrs Cutmore and Mr Scott were very impressed by the level of improvement from last week's round. Each team was a little more prepared, and each team tried that little bit harder with rebutting an argument. Well done Year 5 and 6!
For next week, use your planning time with your teammates wisely. This is important to writing a good line of argument. This is real collaboration - working effectively with people who are not your besties. Also each speaker needs to give more evidence for their reasons, making your thoughts and ideas deeper and your points clearer.

Looking forward to next Friday and the next round of debates.

Stage Maths

Everyone in Year 5 loves Tuesday Maths. During our Maths time on a Tuesday Year 5 and Year 6 join together to work in specific groups with a teacher. Mr Scott, Mr Marrett, Mrs Groch, Mrs Duffy and Mrs Cutmore all take a group which targets specific skills and concepts. We all stretch our learning dispositions each time we meet.

Assembly Report

Well done Planning Pirates on giving a great report about how well our school is doing exercising their planning muscles.

Maths

We worked as teams to solve some division problems. We went on to write some of our own multiple choice division worded problems. We tried to make the answers something that looked like they might be right.

Maths this morning

We have been stretching our COMPASSION muscle in Maths this morning as we worked in groups with people we don't normally work with. We were busy trying to rank the possibility of events and assigning them a numerical value.

Learning@STLUKE'S Focus Disposition

Our focus L@SL disposition for the next fortnight is COLLABORATION.
At this morning's assembly Year 1 helped everyone consider how to make the most of our 'Collaboration learning muscles'.  Mr Potato Head helped us remember the important elements of working collaboratively with others
